Coronavirus (COVID-19)

If you are planning on travelling distance to attractions, we would recommend that you contact the venues directly in advance to avoid disappointment.

If you, or any of your party have a new persistant cough, or develop a fever of 38C, we would instead advise you to use the NHS's dedicated website for professional advice.

RSPB Lochwinnoch Reserve

As one of the few wetlands left in west Scotland, Lochwinnoch is an ideal day out for all the family. It's the perfect spot to watch whooper swans, wigeons and a wide variety of ducks during the winter months. In spring, you won't want to miss the elaborate displays of the great crested grebes. While you're here, look out for otters, and pop into our visitor centre for a light snack or a browse in the shop which has an array of bird feeding products, books, gifts, clothing, toys and binoculars and telescopes.
The reserve is open at all times. The visitor centre is open daily from 10 am-5 pm with the exception of 25-26 December and 1-2 January, when the centre is closed.
Free entry to visitor centre, viewing area and shop.Small admission fee for nature trails (£3 adult, £2 concessions, £1.50 child, family ticket - minimum three people - one child free with at least one paying adult). Free for RSPB members and those travelling by 'green' transport. Free hot drink if you travel to the reserve by bike!
There are two feeding stations on the reserve. One is located in front of the main viewing area in the visitor centre and one can be found along the Aird Meadow Trail. There is a packed events programme throughout the year, with something for everyone from guided walks and evening talks, to bug hunts and fungus forays.
We aim to make all of our events suitable for the whole family, often with accompanying adults attending free of charge (unless otherwise stated). We also run daily activities including pond dipping and bug hunting (April to October), our Monthly Wildlife Challenge, Bird Bingo and much more besides. We have a treetop tower with indoor games and activities - why not try the Treehouse Quiz?
Dogs are allowed on all footpaths. They must be kept on a lead.
